As Cyber Week comes to a close, Flora is sharing the final lesson in her special Plant Care Masterclass: how to design a plant space that supports growth, harmony, and long-term plant health.

Step 1 — Build Your “Plant Zones”

Grouping plants intentionally is one of the most effective ways to help them grow well. Plants thrive when they’re surrounded by others that share similar needs. Flora recommends creating your zones based on:

  • Light preference
  • Humidity needs
  • Growth style (trailing, upright, compact)

These zones create small, stable microclimates in your home, making plant care easier and helping each plant flourish.

Step 2 — Place Your Anchors First

Cyber Week 4

Every plant space needs structure. Start by placing your larger plants — your “anchors” — in spots that best support their size and needs. Think of them as the pillars of your indoor garden.

Corners: Fiddle leaf figs, rubber plants
Near windows: Monsteras, birds of paradise
Low-light spots: ZZ plants, peace lilies

Once these anchors are in place, you can fill in the remaining spaces with medium and smaller plants, creating balance and natural flow.

Step 3 — Add the Finishing Touches

This is where your space becomes truly personal and visually cohesive. Flora suggests enhancing your plant area with thoughtful elements such as:

  • Mixing plant heights using stools and shelves
  • Using mirrors to reflect and amplify natural light
  • Grouping humidity-loving plants like ferns, calatheas, and begonias

These finishing touches not only make your space beautiful, they also improve growing conditions and help your plants stay healthy.
