Sharpiella seligeri (Sharpiella seligeri)

Description

Sharpiella seligeri ( Synopsis of Herzogigerla seligeri,Isopterygium seligeri,Plagiothecium seligeri ) is a leaf moss and was named after the Silesian pastor Ignaz Seliger. It almost always prevails and is therefore easily recognizable by its characteristic curved capsules.Sharpiela seligeri forms only relatively small plantlets, usually creeping, dull green to yellowish, and growing in relatively loose ceilings. The irregularly branched stem is no longer than 3 cm long and is often provided with some root hairs. The bogig growing branches become up to 2 cm long. The leaves are in the lower part, but in the upper part they are more or less in contact with the stem.At the shoot ends, the leaves are one-sided,but otherwise weakly crescent-shaped and long and finely pointed. The blade edge, which is generally serrated to the base, has a short or completely missing rib.The leaf-wing cells are indistinctly highlighted,egg-shaped and yellowish- hyalinecolored. The laminates are 10 to 16 times as long as wide and are often spotted at the leaf base. The seta, which is reddish-colored,bears a sporic capsule, which is characterized by a worm-shaped curve,of an elongated cylindrical shape. It is often dry streaked and releases greenish colored spores.
