Cycas revoluta is a species of gymnosperm in the family Cycadaceae, native to Japan. It is commonly known as the Sago Palm or King Sago Palm, although it is not a true palm. It is a slow-growing evergreen with a stout trunk that can reach up to 10 feet (3 meters) tall and 1 foot (30 cm) in diameter. The leaves are pinnate, about 2-4 feet (60-120 cm) long, and have a glossy, dark green color. The plant produces male and female cones on separate individuals, with the female cones producing bright red seeds.
