(Schefflera arboricola)

Dwarf umbrella tree, Parlour palm, Umbrella plant
Schefflera arboricola, commonly known as dwarf umbrella tree, is a tropical evergreen shrub or small tree that can grow up to 10 feet (3 meters) tall in the wild, but usually grows up to 3-6 feet (0.9-1.8 meters) tall indoors. It has glossy, dark green, palmate leaves that grow in clusters of 7-9 leaflets.
Up to 10 feet (3 meters)
Schefflera arboricola prefers bright, indirect light but can also tolerate low light conditions. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves.
This plant prefers moderate to high humidity levels. Mist the leaves with water regularly, or place the plant on a tray of pebbles and water to increase humidity.
Feed Schefflera arboricola with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Do not fertilize during the winter months.
Prune Schefflera arboricola in the spring to control its size and shape. Remove any dead or yellowing leaves or stems. This plant can be easily propagated from cuttings.
Common pests for Schefflera arboricola include spider mites, scale insects, and mealybugs. These can be treated with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
3-6 feet (0.9-1.8 meters)
Water Schefflera arboricola when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Do not overwater as this can lead to root rot. Allow the excess water to drain out of the pot.
Schefflera arboricola prefers temperatures between 60-75°F (15.5-24°C). It can tolerate temperatures as low as 50°F (10°C) but should not be exposed to temperatures below 40°F (4.5°C).
The growing season for Schefflera arboricola is spring and summer.
Schefflera arboricola is relatively easy to grow and care for, making it a popular choice for indoor plants.
Schefflera arboricola is not cold hardy and is best grown indoors or in warm climates. It is suitable for USDA hardiness zones 10-12.
Schefflera arboricola is native to Taiwan and Hainan, but is widely cultivated as an indoor plant around the world.
