This blooming candelabra aloe is a dwarf cultivar, Aloe arborescens var. mzimnyati. The regular, non-dwarfed species grows 9ft. tall and wide. It would have been too big for this narrow bed sandwiched between a walkway and the house. Even so, it needs to be regularly trimmed off the walkway. I smuggled this dwarf form, which grows 4ft. tall and wide, into the country.. At the time, it was offered only by a grower in Santa Barbara, California. Subsequently, cuttings have supplied neighbors and even the HOA.
