Jungle geranium is one of the most popular flowering shrub for a Caribbean beach. It will grow easily in alkaline sand as long as the temperature stays above 60F. (15.5C.). In hot areas it benefits from some filtered shade for part of the day but needs at least 6 hrs. of sun to flower best. There is a lot of variety in the south asian genus. This one has comparatively small leaves and flowers making it best suited for sandy beach planting. However, as you can see, there is a bit of nutrient deficiency with the yellowish leaves. I just took this snap this morning.
Bright colors and very good composition of red and green colors 😊
Go PremiumGo Premiumooh, didn't know d ixora is a geranium variant. The inflorescence presentation looks more like d pelargonium .
Go PremiumGo PremiumClare, it isn't a geranium. That why common names make plant identification confusing.
