Calochortus luteus is a wild lily found mostly along the islands and coastal foothills of California. The typical form of this lily has more rounded petals like those pictured when you touch the Plant Snap banner photo. The Calochortus pictured is an unique form endemic only to a limited section of coastal foothills in Baja California, Mexico. The most obvious difference (there are more I don't remember) is the more pointed petals. Not a lot of people have seen this variant. I stumbled across a few growing near each other on one of my solitary ramblings in the hills around my village and took this picture.
Stunning beauty: delicate and elegant shape in addition to the pure yellow coloration! 🤩🤩
