Garden dahlia (Dahlia pinnata)

#photocontest25 Hiya dear friends … the first flower of my new Dahlia addition… her name is ‘ Vancouver ‘ looks a bit dishevelled and shaggy after the rain last night... I'm looking forward to the next blooms because on the tag it looks different… 'Vancouver' is an exceptionally attractive scion mutation of the famous Japanese dahlia 'Akita'. Bred in 1999 by S. v. Wijk, the large-flowered dahlia 'Vancouver' has magnificent flowers in a bright purple-violet colour. The unique shape of the flowers and the creamy white tips of the slightly curled ray florets give this dahlia the appearance of an explosion of colour. The dark purple flowers sparkle as if frosted with ice and reach an impressive size of up to 20 cm - a real eye-catcher!
