Elmleaf blackberry (Rubus ulmifolius)

#Photocontest25 This morning, along the quiet country road, the hedgerows offered a secret bounty. Wild blackberries—dusky and sun-warmed—clustered like constellations tangled in bramble and thorn. Their inky skins glistened with dew, each fruit a small universe of sweetness, ripened by August’s steady breath. Some hung heavy and ripe, yielding softly to the fingers, while others still clung in shades of ruby and rose, waiting for the next turn of the sun. The air around them carried a faint perfume of earth and summer sugar, and for a moment, the world stood still—just me, the thrum of bees, and nature’s simple, unannounced offering.
