Naked rhizomnium moss (Mnium handelii)
Description
Star mosses ( Mnium ) are a genus of leaf mosses that grow in most of the deciduous forests and other shady humid environments. The Mniaceae family now includes this single genus, Mnium , with seven species, most of which are in the mountains. Most star mosses are a few centimeters high and loosely tuvade. Star mosses are oval to long-leaf leaves, most with thick edge strips and paired teeth. Previously, more mosses were counted on the star mosses. According to modern classification (National Key) counts some species are now the magnificent moss genus Plagiomnium , source magnificent moss genus Pseudobryum and round moss genus Rhizomnium.
