Description
Shoots are 3-8 cm tall, green or very often reddish, becoming dark red or almost black below. The broad leaves are 4-4.5 mm long, have a differentiated border of narrow cells and lack teeth. The leaf tip narrows abruptly to a small but distinct point and the nerve runs to the leaf tip. Dark rhizoids cover the lower part of the red stem. Capsules are rare.
