Description
Nardia scalaris is a liverwort from the Jungermanniaceae family . A synonym of this kind is Alicularia scalaris (Gray) Corda, German-speaking names are stairs-shaped wing-liver moss or ordinary Scheibenblattmoos . Nardia scalaris belongs to the group of beaked liver mobs. It grows in dense green to brownish, in sunny locations also reddish lawns. The upright plants are 2 to 4 centimeters long and 1 to 2 millimeters wide and closely leafy. The two-row arranged, round or obliquely flanked edges of the stalks grow by 1 millimeter. The leaf cells are approximately 30 to 35 -m in the center of the leaf, and the leaf edge is markedly smaller. The cell corners are triangular or knotig thickened. Each cell contains 2 to 3 large, elongated, smooth oil bodies . The lanceolate leaves are hidden between the rhizoids. The moss is diocese . The perianth is shorter than the sheaths, and hidden in these, the periantema is somewhat contracted. Sporic capsules are oval and dark brown. The species is not uncommon, spore ripe is spring. Brood bodies are not formed.
