Scapania curta (Scapania curta)
Description
Scapania curta is a liver moss species of the class Jungermanniopsida . The stems are up to three inches long and form yellowish green to reddish turf. The leaves are divided up to one third of the length. The lobes are unevenly large, towards the tip they are serrated away. The upper lobes are ovate, pointed and do not reach over the trunk. The lower lobes are twice as large as the upper lobes, ovate, pointed and three quarters as wide as long. In the middle of the leaf cells are 12 to 20 × 25 to 30 microns in size, their cell corners are significantly thickened. On the leaf margin are one to four rows evenly thickened cells. The cuticle is smooth to papillose. Each cell contains two to four oil bodies . Brooders occur.
