Trichostomum luteolum (Trichostomum luteolum)
Description
The plants of this genus are about 0.5 to 4 centimeters large and form loose to dense lawns. They grow upright and are simple or branched. The leaves are lanceolate to tongue-shaped, dull to pointed, the leaf margins all the way to krenuliert, flat or upright in the upper part of the leaf. The strong leaf rib extends into the tip of the blade or emerges as a short spike tip. Wet, the leaves are upright to protruding, dry curled. The leaf cells are rectangular, smooth and transparent on the base, quadratic round to short rectangular, papillary and opaque in the upper leaf section. The species are usually dioecious . An erect seta bears the usually upright, rarely slightly inclined, cylindrical to ellipsoidal spur capsule. The filiform peristomial teeth are upright to slightly twisted. The calyptra is cap-shaped, the capsule caps are pointed to the beak. In a few species the sporicula is kleistokarp or the peristome is rudimentary to missing.
