Pleuridium Moss (Pleuridium subulatum)
Description
The plants grow in low, yellow-green lawns. The scapulae are often one-sided, and from the widened, egg-shaped base, quite suddenly narrowed into the long pectoral tip. The laminate cells are single-layered and square to rectangular.The plants are autocratic (antheridia and archegonia on different branches on the same plant). Antheridia are found in small buds in the leaf axes. Mature capsules are yellowish-brown and shiny, spores are fine-papillosed and 23-28 -m. The chromosome number is n = 13.
