Description
Kerria, is a monotypic genus of shrubs belonging to the family Rosaceae. 2 Its only species: Kerria japonica, is native to eastern Asia. It is a deciduous shrub belonging to the rose family , native to eastern Asia , in China , Japan and Korea . It is named in honor of William Kerr , who introduced the cultivation 'Pleniflora'. The scientific genus is also used as the common name Kerria . It reaches 1-3 meters in height, with arched branches that often rest on other vegetation or on rocks. The leaves are alternate, simple 4-7 cm long with serrated margins. The flowers are bright yellow, with five petals . The fruit is an achene of 5 mm in length.
