Description

It is a bulbous geophytic herbaceous plant with a 15-35 cm high stem,greenish to the base and brown red near the apex.The root system consists of two rhubarb,one sessile and the other shortly pedunculated.The leaves are lanceolate-linear,basal ones with dark membranous sheaths,wrapping around the stem,medium (4-5) long 10-18 cm and widths 0.8-1.6 cm,the upper bratteoforms.The inflorescence consists of 3 to 9 flowers,with sepals and petals assembled in a tepaco helmet that encapsulates almost the entire epithelium of the labyrinth.The main characteristic that distinguishes this species from the others of the genus Serapias is the whitish and rather wavy margin of the epichile.At the base of the labyrinth there are two shiny chaosiness,distanced between them and divergent,purple-blackish color.The gynostemium is red-violet color with pollinia green-yellow.It flourishes from March to May.
