Puerto Rico Smoothlip Orchid (Leochilus puertoricensis)
Description
This miniature is often found in humid cool to hot humid areas in PR, this one in particular I found it growing in an unattended coffee field along with some other orchids species and yes for many of you taking orchids from the wild is not seen good at all...but here's the thing, after three months from taking that orchid and some others a friend of mine, with whom I went to that area the same day that I found it, told me that all the coffee field in that area was killed with a chemical for killing plants....why they did it- I still keep asking myself...and the thing is that none of them, I'm sure, had the permits for doing that and that none of them knew that there where native and endemic orchids growing there....and this is something that still happens around the island :(.....this lil one at least is safe and flowering
