Description
Eriochilus petricola is a species of geophysical orchids , family Orchidaceae, from the east and south-east of Australia , where they grow in open forests, woods and heaths. They are plants that have a buried tuber, without apparent roots, delicate stems not branched with a single oval leaf, basal or above the ground, inflorescenceelongated with up to four flowers. The flowers have large pale sepals that stand out more than the other segments. The dorsal sepal lies on the spine, the petals are narrow and much smaller both of dark colors and the like. The labellum forms a narrow tube with the spine, is obscurely lobed, with broad, fleshy intermediate lobe, narrow base and reflected margins, covered with purple or white hairs.
