Broad-lip bird orchid (Chiloglottis trapeziformis)
Description
Terrestrial tuberous herb. Slender. Up to 9cm high when in flower. Stem red to green.LEAVES: Two oblong leaves, 3 - 5cm long, with usually smooth but sometimes wavy margins.FLOWER: Solitary. 1 - 1.5cm across, upfacing. Brown to purple-green in colour. Kite shaped labellum with dark, tuberculate to stalked calli which do not extend to the labellum margin & leave the labellar tip bare. Variable small pink calli near the column.FLOWERING TIME: November - December.HABITAT: Exotic Pine forest.
