Description
Bifrenaria calcarata Barb.Rodr. (1882) , is a species of epiphytic orchid native to Brazil . It is a herbaceous species of small and medium size, which prefers hot to cold weather. It is epiphytic with tetragonal-conical pseudobulbs with a single leaf , erect, elliptic-elongated, acuminate that blooms in a basal inflorescence with few fragrant flowers. Flowering occurs in the late spring and early summer . It is found in Brazil in the states of Bahía , Espíritu Santo , Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in the mountain rain forests at heights of 300 to 900 meters above sea level.
