Description
auvagesia is a genus of flowering plants that belong to the Ochnaceae family. It comprises 77 species described and of these, only 37 accepted. It is distributed through the tropics of South America . They are annual or perennial herbs, glabrous. Leaves whole or serrulado-glandulosas, subsésiles; persistent and ciliated stipules. Flowers small, axillary or rarely in terminal inflorescences, white to pink; sepals and petals 5; staminodia in 1-3 whorls, wrapping the ovary and the 5 stamens; ovary with 3 parietal placentas. Fruit a septicidal capsule; numerous seeds.
