Description
Haageocereus australis grows down with dark green to gray-green shoots, which reach a length of up to 1 meter with diameters of 2 to 6 centimeters. There are twelve to 22 low ribs available. The one to two middle spines are thickened at their base. They are darker than the marginal spines and up to 4.5 inches long. The 15 to 30 needle-like to bristle-like edge thorns have a length of up to 8 millimeters. The white, fragrant flowers reach a diameter of 3.5 inches and a length of 7 to 10 centimeters. The spherical, initially pink fruits later turn red. They have a diameter of up to 4 centimeters.
