Frailea castanea (Frailea castanea)
Description
Frailea castanea grows individually with depressed globose, dark reddish to chocolate brown, sometimes blue to gray-green bodies. The bodies reach stature heights of up to 4 centimeters with diameters of 3 to 4 centimeters and have conical, bulbous roots. The 8 to 14 ribs are low and convex. The areoles on it are small. The 3 to 11 dark brown spines are directed downwards, abutting the surface of the body and are 0.5 to 1.5 millimeters long.
