Sacramento Mountain Foxtail Cactus (Escobaria sneedii orcuttii)
Description
Escobaria villardii forms lumps with up to eleven shoots . The spherical to cylindrical shoots reach diameters of 6.4 to 15 centimeters when measuring diameters of 3.2 to 6.4 centimeters. They appear messy white and have a slightly rounded crest. Their warts are 6 to 11 millimeters long and are feared for the whole length. There are six to ten middle mandibles. The one or two longest of them are protruding and sweaty. They have a darker tip and have lengths of 1.2 to 2 centimeters. The other middle thorns are apparently white and 0.6 to 2 centimeters long. The 20 to 36 white marginal mandibles are bristle-like and 0.5 to 1.2 centimeters long. Some of them are bent. The white flowers do not open wide and have a dark middle stripe. They are 2 to 3.5 centimeters long and reach diameters of 0.8 to 2.5 centimeters. The cylindrical green fruits are 1.1 to 2.1 centimeters long. Occasionally, they are occupied with few woolly scales.
