Orange cob cactus (Echinopsis famatimensis)
Description
Echinopsis famatimensis is a species of the genus Echinopsis in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet famatimensis refers to the occurrence of the species in the Sierra de Famatina . Echinopsis famatimensis usually grows individually and only occasionally forms upholstery. The spherical to short cylindrical shoots reach diameters of 2.5 to 6 centimeters growth heights of 3 to 7 centimeters. The shoot crest is strongly sunk. There are 24 to 30 low ribs , which are dissolved in bumps. The brownish areoles on them are elongated. Central spines are not formed. The seven to nine whitish to yellowish spines have a darker base. They are curved, lie on the drive surface and have a length of up to 0.3 centimeters.
