Echinocereus pectinatus is a botanical species of plants in the family of the Cactaceae . It is endemic to Chihuahua and Sonora in Mexico and Arizona , New Mexico and Texas in the United States . It is a common species in localized places. Echinocereus pectinatusIt grows erect, with spherical shape for cylindrical, usually individually and reaches a size of 8 to 35 cm long and 3 to 13 centimeters in diameter. The body of the plant is shaped like a comb of thorns that make up white and pink areas. It has 12 to 23 ribs. The 12 to 30 radial spines are directed in the form of a comb on two sides, slightly recurved and are 5 to 15 millimeters long white for pink tint. The 1-5 central spines, vary in color from pink, yellow to brown and are between 1 to 25 millimeters long. The flowers appear on the funnel-shaped trunk side and are 5 to 15 centimeters in diameter and dark pink. The tube of the flower is tomentoso with white thorns from the outside. The fruits are purple and fleshy with an elliptical shape and thorny.
