Chascon (Copiapoa krainziana)
Description
Copiapoa krainziana grows solitary or branching from the base, forming groups of up to one square meter. The gray-green shoots are spherical to cylindrical in shape. They measure 6 to 12 inches in diameter and are densely covered with thorns. The 13 to 24 ribs are straight. The thorns are very variable; either needle-like and fine, soft, straight or curved and white to greyish. There are 12 to 20 middle spines and 10 to 12 spines.
