Description
Tassadia is a genus of plants in the Apocynaceae, first described as a genus in 1844. It is native primarily to South America, with one species extending north into Central America, Mexico, and Trinidad. They are creepers sufrútices with different long and short branches, latex white. The leaves are distichous or decussate, petiolate to subsessile; herbaceous, coriaceous or paper, 2-9.5 cm long, 1-3.5 cm wide, oblong or ovate, basally truncate, obtuse or rounded, the apex acute, acuminate or mucronate, adaxial glabra ( T. guianensis Decne.) or singly or sparsely pubescent or tomentose, glabrous abaxially ( T. ovalifolia ), or low or densely pubescent or tomentose, with 2-3 colletters at the base of the leaves. The inflorescences are terminal, axillary or extra-axillary, occasionally two per node, with 20-50 flowers, very condensed, angular rachis, visible in a zigzag pattern; pedicels almost obsolete; with visible floral bracts, lanceolate, with trichomes.
