Description
Anacardium is a genus of flowering plants in the Anacardiaceae family, native to the tropical regions of America . Trees almost always of small size or evergreen shrubs , of extended crown, the trees can reach 6-10 m of height in culture, although there are some varieties or species of great size, like the anacardium excelsum (Mijao) or the anacardium giganteum, that they can reach 45 m in height or more. Leaves simple, alternate, obovate, up to 20 x 15 cm, glabrous, with rounded apex, shortly petiolate. Inflorescences in terminal panicles of numerous flowers , 10 to 20 cm long, male or female, the calyx with 5 sepals , the corolla with 5 elongated lanceolate petals , 7 to 8 mm long, greenish with a reddish stripe. Androceo with 10 stamens .
