Description
Ptilotus is a genus of wild plant from the Amaranthaceae family . All species are native to the driest parts of mainland Australia , although there is one in Tasmania and another in Malaysia on the islands of Flores and Timor . The genus was first described by botanist Robert Brown in Prodromus Florac Novae Hollandiae in 1810. Ptilotus is an important genus with over 100 species.
