Madhuca prolixa (Madhuca prolixa)
Description
Madhuca prolixa is a tree in the Sapotaceae family. It grows up to 10 metres (30 ft) tall, with a trunk diameter of up to 15 centimetres (6 in). The bark is greyish brown. Inflorescences bear up to eight flowers. The fruits are yellowish-grey, subglobose, up to 2 cm (1 in) in diameter. The specific epithet prolixa is from the Latin meaning "expanded", referring to the inflorescences. Habitat is lowland mixed dipterocarp forest from sea-level to 200 metres (660 ft) altitude. M. prolixa is found in Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo.
