Description

Madhuca hirtiflora is a plant in the Sapotaceae family. It grows as a tree up to 15 metres (50 ft) tall, with a trunk diameter of up to 15 centimetres (6 in). The bark is greyish brown. Inflorescences bear up to six flowers. The fruit is greyish, ellipsoid, up to 2.5 centimetres (1 in) long. The specific epithet hirtiflora is from the Latin meaning "hairy flowers". Habitat is lowland mixed dipterocarp forest from sea-level to 150 metres (500 ft) altitude. M. hirtiflora is found in Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo.
