Description
Valantia hispida is a small plantof the Rubiaceae family . It is native to the Mediterranean basin . It is a herbaceous plant with stems that reach a size of up to 25 cm in height, erect, ascending or decumbent, generally very branched, glabrous on the lower part and more or less densely hispid on the inflorescence . Leaves 1-13 x 0.8-6 mm, in whorls of 4 pieces, elliptical, lanceolate or obovate, glabrous or with scanned margin. Bracts similar to leaves, with scabrous margin, sometimes laxly appressed-pubescent by the beam. Corollaof 0.3-0.6 mm, violaceous. Anthers of c 0.05-0.1 mm. Fruitful structure of 2-5 mm, with 2-3 horns, back not prolonged in horn and with abundant stings clearly crushed. Fruits generally with 2 mericarps of 1.1-1.3 mm, reniform or hemispherical, papillose, with fascicles of silver raphides in the region of the thread. It blooms from March to May.
