Description
Rosa xanthina f. Spontanea , the wild type that existed in northern China and in Mongolia , a bush 3 meters tall, with stems with flat, straight spines. The foliage, very light, consists of leaves with 5 to 13 small oval leaflets. The simple, yellow flowers, fairly large (5 to 6 cm) give round and red fruits. Nevertheless, this form is generally no longer recognized scientifically.Rosa xanthina f. Xanthina , the typical form, which does not exist in nature, is distinguished, in May and June, by its semi-double or double flowers (up to 20 petals), golden yellow, 4 to 5 cm Diameter.Rosa xanthina 'Canary Bird' is a cultivar of Rosa xanthina which has the peculiarity of blooming very early, from the beginning of April.
