Dodge'S Hawthorn (Crataegus dodgei)
Description
Dodge's hawthorn is named for Charles Keene Dodge (1844-1918), who was an attorney by trade but made major contributions to systematic botany. Dodge was based in Michigan, and the heart of this species' range could be placed in Michigan and the midwest. The species makes its way into the western and northern zones of New England, with some outlying populations farther east.
