Description

Dodecatheon meadia is a species of flowering plant in the family Primulaceae, native to North America. It is found in the American South, as well as the Upper Midwest, Kansas, New York, Pennsylvania and the Canadian province of Manitoba. It grows in woods and prairies and tolerates partial shade. It is commonly known as shooting star, though this name may also refer to other species. It has white or pink petals which nod from an umbel, protruding from a scape 8-20 in (203-508 mm). It flowers in the spring.
