Soft Phlox (Phlox mollis)
Description
A tufted, woody-based perennial with flowering stems 5-15cm tall, the whole plant densely covered with short, arching hairs. Leaves narrowly lanceolate to linear, slender-pointed, up to 3cm long. Flowers 2-2.4cm wide, purple to pink, lightly fragrant, solitary or in twos and threes, spring. Eastern Washington State and adjacent Idaho, in the Rocky Mountains and Columbia Plateau /on open stony slopes.
