Description
“Pet poisonous” – Toxic parts: roots, seeds, berries The ombusillo or ombucillo ( Phytolacca tetramera ) is a species of herbaceous or shrubby geophyte of the genus Phytolacca . It inhabits the center-east of the Southern Cone of South America . It is a dioica species (each individual gives flowers of a single sex). Its aerial part dies by the cold of winter, but from its roots it is reborn in the following spring. It reaches a height of about 100 to 150 cm. The leaves have an oblanceolate shape and a length of 20 to 35 cm. The species blooms in November. Its fruits are small berries.
