Description
Trigonopleura malayana,Mid-canopy tree up to 34 m tall and 62 cm dbh.Stipules ca.6 mm long.Leaves alternate,simple,penni-veined,conspicuously looping secondary veins,lower surface hairy.Flowers ca.8 mm diameter,greenish-white,placed in axillary bundles.Fruits ca.11 mm diameter,greenish-white-yellow,dehiscent capsules.Seeds with white-cream aril.Ecology: In undisturbed mixed dipterocarp and sub-montane forests up to 1600 m altitude.Along rivers,but also common on hillsides and ridges.On sandy to clay soils.In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree.Uses: Young leaves are edible.
