Description
The male poppy ( Papaver argemone ) is a species belonging to the family of the poppies . It is easily distinguished from other poppies , by its fruit with ribs, oblong-cylindrical, up to 2 cm, covered with hard erect hairs. Flowers with red petals obovate sometimes with dark spots at their base; filaments of violet stamens and bluish anthers . Leaves very divided into narrow segments of bristly hair; stems of bristly hairs. It is an annual plant up to 40 cm. It blooms in spring and summer. It inhabits agricultural fields, fallows and sandy areas. For almost all of Europe .
