Description
Found in Sulawesi, the Moluccas, New Guinea, the Phillipines and the Solomon Islands at altitudes of sealevel to 600 meters on large trees in primary rainforests found high up in the spreading branches of a leafy tree and savannah thickets or mangrove swamps as a hot to warm growing, monopodial epiphyte, with an ascending or arcuate, rigid, terete stem carrying 2 ranked, rigid, very leathery, arcuate-spreading, strap-like, unequally bilobed apically, obtuse leaves blooming in the spring and early summer on an erect or horizontal, axillary, to 2' [60 cm] long, branched [6 flowers per], nodal, purple, densely flowered inflorescence that has triangular-ovate floral bracts with several, color variable, non-scented flowers.
