Peacock plant (Goeppertia ecuadoriana)
Description
Calathea ecuadoriana is a phanerogamous species of the Marantaceae family , native to Brazil. It is a terrestrial herb endemic to the Amazon of Ecuador , where it has been collected in at least eight populations. Known from the Sumaco Napo-Galeras National Park , around Tena, and in the Pastaza Canton . The population in the Limoncocha Ecological Reserve is made up of individuals cultivated from the Sarayacu population. It can occur in similar habitats in the Yasuní National Park . Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
