Description
Cuphea wrightii,is asmall shrub species belonging to the family Lythraceae native to Mexico.They are herbaceous,erect annual plants that reach a size of 10-60 cm high,branched,stems and flowers with trichomeserect,rigid and purple.Leaves sessile to petiolate,petioles up to 10 mm long,blades widely ovate to lanceolate,10-30 mm long and 5-15 mm wide,gradually reduced to ovate bracts in the inflorescence,acute apex,acute to rounded base.Inflorescences foliated clusters,bracts,1-3 flowers per knot,pedicels 1-5 mm long;floral tube 5-9 mm long,green or tinted purple,rounded to truncated base,short and narrow neck when in fruit,dorsal lobe 2-3 times longer than the other 5;petals 6,purple,2 dorsal orbicular to obovate,1-5 mm long,4 ventral more short and narrow,oblong to narrowly obovate,0.5-2.5 mm long;stamens 11,included;nectar linear to narrowly triangular,erect to oblique,apex deflex.Seeds 3-6.
