Description
Small Wishbone Flower is a herbs 7-20 cm tall,hairy.The species name thouarsii is in the honour of Louis-Marie Aubert du Petit-Thouars,19th century French botanist.Stems are erect or spreading,branched from base.Branches often prostrate,rooting at nodes.Leaf stalks are about 5 mm,carrying ovate to ovate-lanceshaped leaves,1-2 cm long,0.8-1.5 cm broad.Leaves are hairless,base broadly wedge-shaped,margin toothed,tip pointed.Inflorescences arise in leaf axils,near stem top,usually 2-5-flowered fascicles.Sepal cup is 6-8 mm in fruit,5-ribbed.Flowers are blue,0.8-1.2 cm.Anterior stamens have a toothlike appendage.Capsule is 5-7 mm.Seeds are about 0.4 mm.Flowering: October-December.
