Description
Thymus spinulosus is a small shrub whose ascending stems grow from a woody base and are hairy all around. Creeping stems are missing or there are only a few short ones available. The leaves are 9 to 12 mm long and 1.5 to 2.5 mm wide. They are herbaceous, greenish, lanceolate, almost pointed, often sparsely hairy on the top. The midrib is clearly visible, the side veins are rather inconspicuous.The inflorescences are head shaped. The bracts have unobtrusive side veins, are herbaceous and greenish, the lowest same to the leaves, the upper ones are about 7 mm long and 3 mm wide and more or less ovate. The calyx is 3.5 to 5 mm long, greenish and dense reddish glandular. The upper teeth are up to 1.2 cm long, lanceolate and ciliate. The crown is whitish.The number of chromosomes is 2n = 56
