Black peppermint (Mentha piperita)
Description
Peppermint ( Mentha × piperita ) is a perennial herb in the genus coins and the family wreath plants . In 2014, more than 90% of the world's peppermint was produced in Morocco . Peppermint is 30 to 70 centimeters high and blooms from July to September with rosalila flowers . The flower posture is cylindrical pyramid shaped, with fodder of 2.5 to 4.5 millimeters. The stalk is often reddish and leaves are rounded to elongated lance-like with blunt almost hearty base, shallow but firmly toothed and spun. The whole plant smells of peppermint. Peppermint is rare in a confused form in the Nordic countries , but is enjoying a damp cultural scene. It is usually a sterile hybrid between water mint ( Mentha aquatica ) and spearmint ( Mentha spicata ). One can find wild-growing peppermint in central and southern Europe, but the first deliberate crossing was made in Britain .
