Description
Chrysothemis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Gesneriaceae. They are herbaceous perennial plants of terrestrial habits or epiphytes with tubers . The stems are succulent , erect or rarely decumbent, subquadrangular. The leaves are opposite and membranous. With short petiole , limb usually decurrent. The inflorescences in axillary tops, sometimes appear terminal by rebases of the apex of the stem, pedunculated, with 1-9 flowers, often in the form of an umbel. Sepals connate, calyx bell or inflated to urinate, sometimes with wings, green, yellow, orange or red. Tube of the cylindrical corolla. The fruit is a fleshy bivalve capsule, globose to ovoid, included in the persistent calyx.
