Mexican Fireplant (Euphorbia terracina)
Description
“Pet poisonous” – Toxic parts: leaves, stem, flowers Euphorbia terracina L. , is a species of fanerógama pertaining to the family of euforbiáceas . E.terracina is a plant up to 65 cm high. It is an annual, herbaceous plant . The stem is simple or branched from the bottom and having in the upper part numerous twigs of the inflorescence arranged like the rods of an umbrella. The leaves that grow along the stems are alternate, sessile or almost sessile, narrow, up to 4 cm long, with the apexacute; several of these leaves are grouped at the base of the twigs of the inflorescence; the leaves that are higher, already properly in the inflorescence, are opposite, shorter and wider. The twigs of the inflorescence are generally more than 5 arranged, as already said, as the rods of an umbrella, upwards are divided each into 2 twigs and each of these can in turn be divided into 2. In each of these divisions and accompanied by a pair of opposite leaves is where the flowers are located.
