Cardinal'S Feather (Acalypha radians)
Description
This sun-loving perennial is small in stature but big in interest. The cardinal feather is a low, clump-forming plant that blooms nearly half of the year in its native Texas. Plants grow 6-8 inches tall with red flower spikes. The male flowers are found on long tubular spikes, while the female flowers grow on shorter spikes interspersed with green bracts. The stems are densely pubescent. It requires good drainage, and the best leaf color will appear in full sun.
